NOT Rocky VII

What can I say about this film that hasn't been said already? I can't think of anything, so I'll just say what feel. AAAAHHHH!!!! If I were to rate this film, I would give it a 9.9/10*. Why did I subtract a tenth? Simple - for making us wait 10 years for this film. Seriously though, Creed did to me what I hope The Force Awaken will, and that is tap into the feeling I had watching the original. Creed feels like the '76 Rocky in 2015.

It sits well as a standalone movie, and even non-Rocky fans, even people who have never seen a Rocky film, can appreciate it in all its beauty, HOWEVER if you are a Rocky fanatic, the small, and not so small nods to the older movies are there for your pleasure. When "Gonna Fly Now" finally plays, its hard to hold your emotions in check.

Ryan Coogler and Michael B. Jordan seem to have that Scorsese-DiCaprio thing going. Add to that the Oscar-worthy performance of one Sylvester Stallone and Tessa Thompson's love story as a perfect distraction, and what you get is beautiful.
